Member Expectations:
We're a fairly laid-back sort of Free Company here. A lot of our members have lives outside the game, so we don't usually ask a whole lot of people. Shit happens. But we do have a bare set of expectations here that will be followed, no matter who it is.
-
Communicate: None of us are mind-readers. If something is wrong, speak up. If something is bothering you, tell someone. If you can't find what you're looking for, ask someone.
Talk to your fellow members. They're nice people!
-
Participate: Be active. Talk to people. DO things. Otherwise, what's the point in being here? We'll try and come out to you, but this is a two-way street -- be open and interested in us, and we'll do the same in spades!
-
Contemplate: "Would this upset someone if I posted it?" Depends on where you post it. Observe your surroundings and make sure you're informed.
-
Cooperate: If you use all three of the above tips, this one should be fairly simple to follow. Be kind and stay awesome.
Trial Membership
When you join COMET, you will be given a "Trial Member" rank. This effectively has all the same permissions as a normal member, but with a slight twist on it--you get this role only for 30 days.
During this time, Trial Members will be assigned to a mentor--someone who is there to help guide you through the process of becoming integrated and comfortable in the Free Company, and is there to help answer questions you might have!
If you feel you don't need a mentor, you can always request to be left alone, if you'd like!
Trial Members will need to pass some basic requirements in order to become full members of the FC, such as joining the linkshell, filling out a character sheet (if applicable) and attending an event with other members of the FC!
There is another method to the madness concerning Trial Membership-- the process allows us to further vet people trying to join our community. During Trial Membership duration, if other members, or officers, notice any behavioral issues or file multiple complaints (severe or otherwise) against a Trial Member--depending on the severity--they may be asked to leave the Free Company ranks.
Trial membership is here to help vet people that may have issues, and neglected to tell someone, or a recruiter did not notice, and end up having some conflict with members later on. This is largely done to prevent issues going down the line, keeping things nice, casual, and calm.
COMET reserves the right to revoke membership to people at any time, though a complaint must be filed, and officers must decide to remove the person after evidence has been compiled. Depending on the severity of the complaint filed, they may be removed immediately.
The secret word is NOT "squash". It's actually on another page. Specifically the FAQ. We put a bunch of fake words into the website for people who like to CTRL+F.
